2008scandinavia calls it a day

In May, Erik Heisholt, one of the two founders of 2008scandinavia, decided to join TBWA\Oslo as Executive Creative Director. This was a surprising move, also for Erik, but as he says: “Even if I never planned such a move three months ago, it is impossible to fight your gut feeling”. Since 2008scandinavia was based on the idea of providing a very small staff who designed marketing teams out of other companies and individuals, co-founder Øistein Borge decided to call it a day, and return to his career of writing acclaimed novels, direct commercials and make films. 2008scandinavia wishes to thank all visitors on the blog for their interest.

2008scandinavia shortlisted in the Clio Awards

Teknograd Shark

As we have said before, creative awards are important to us. Competition is good for everybody, not at least for our clients. We love to compete, that´s why we are proud over the fact that our ad “SHARK” for Teknograd Mac Support is on the coveted Shortlist in the Clio Awards, one of the biggest and most important international awards shows. We know, we know, it´s only one ad, but we have only existed since January 2008 and we are only three people, and haven´t produced a whole bunch of campaigns yet, so we allow ourselves to be happy and proud. The only other norwegian Clio shortlist is the already multi-awarded, brilliant Hydro-commercial, by DDB Oslo, produced by Motion Blur, who we share office with. So you can say that both norwegian shortlists are located at the same address. The Bronze, Silver, Gold and Grand Clio´s are to be announced in mid May, so we cross our fingers for even more.

2008scandinavia presents its first commercial

Finally. After four months in business, the communication collective proudly presents its first commercial. Title: IS IT SWISS? Production company: Motion Blur. Director: BOLT. Enjoy. Not enjoy. That´s up to you. You are very welcome to leave a comment. We love to discuss our work.

The Sofapig works out

Affe, the Sofapig, keeps on struggling to become a healthier person, and here is the latest document over his heroic efforts. The clip is a bit long, but you will find some bleeps and blunders here that makes it worth waiting for. 2008scandinavia suggested for our client Oxygo Gym that they should hire a couch potato, “sofapig” in norwegian, and here he is.

The Sofapig comes alive

2008scandinavia suggested for our client Oxygo Gym, that they should create a new position at the gym. They agreed and advertised for a Sofapig – more known as a Coach Potato in the english languague. The Sofapig´s tasks is simply to get in better shape – and blog about it. So here we go, 2008scandinavia proudly presents Affe (we all know what that means in german…), the Sofapig. In the months to come, we will be really good friends. After easter holiday, the Sofapig´s homepage www.sofagrisen.no will be up and running.

2008scandinavia picks up two awards at the Golden Pencil

Last friday, norwegian Creative Forum arranged The Golden Pencil 2007 – Gullblyanten 2007, Norway´s biggest and most important domestic creative award show. A bit like The One Show or the D&AD in the US and the UK. As usual the agencies Kitchen, McCann, DDB and Try won the most awards, and as usual, a lot of the results in the different categories are totally impossible to understand for everyone else than the jury. Especially the Art Direction-category was a great mystery, handing the gold award to two Djuice-commercials, using a deliberately “bad-taste 70´s” style, not unlike what 2008scandinavia´s good friends in Traktor is known for every now and then, and do 100 times better. The commercial are quite funny, and more than decent, but to award them gold is outragous. Especially when you bare in mind all the brilliant art direction work that never even picked up a diploma (shortlist). But that´s the same story every year, and what are you going to about it? Put robots in the jury? All the discussions is half the fun.2008scandinavia picked up 2 diplomas. One for our digital work for Norli´s Antique Books , and one for our poster campaign for Teknograd. We found it very strange that the doublespread magazine ad “Shark” for Teknograd did not receive an award. But again. That´s life when it comes to award shows. We´re happy about our two diplomas, given the fact that we only had excisted four weeks before entry deadline. We´re also happy about our friends in the rather small agency SMFB, who picked up three silvers and eight diplomas. We love to compete, we love to win awards. Next up are Clio, The One Show and Cannes Lions. Hopefully, 2008scandinavia will score even better here than home in Oslo. In the picture: Left: Erik Heisholt of 2008scandinavia. Right: Not Erik´s kid brother, not Bjørn Borg, not even Bjørg Borgen, but the very talented young art director, Hans Martin Rønneseth of SMFB.bilde-1.png

Really nice VW Passat-commercial from Try

Try advertising agency has won the “Agency of the year”-title in Norway the last 5 years or so. Their growth has been very impressive, and many of the best creative people in the country work there. They produce a great number of work each month, and even though it always look professional, many feel, including themselves, that the groundbreaking creative standard could hit the light a bit more often. Having said that, 10 – 15 times a year, work you really wish you did yourself, come out of Try. Their latest commercial for VW Passat is a good example. Try´s best creative team in our opinion, Thorbjørn Ruud and Petter Bryde, went to Bollywood with production company Paradox some weeks ago, and we must say the final result is uplifting.
